Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Has No Trouble Against Copper Hills

Mountain Ridge had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Copper Hills on Friday. The Sentinels put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 10-4 victory. With that win, the Sentinels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ty Holmstead looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Goff was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stockton Fowlks, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mountain Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mountain Ridge's record now sits at 13-6. As for Copper Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Ridge will welcome Bingham at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Copper Hills, they will be playing at home against Herriman at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
