For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Grant Community and Grayslake North meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bulldogs blew past the Knights 40-12. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-0.

It was another big night for Matthew Gipson, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Tyler Zdon, who rushed for 117 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

Grant Community's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Grayslake North, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grant Community is set to challenge their familiar foe Wauconda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,040 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Grayslake North will square off against rival Grayslake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
