Baseball Game Preview: Flora Wolves vs. Edwards County Lions

For the second straight game, Flora will face off against Edwards County. The Wolves will face off against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Flora has won four straight at home, while Edwards County won seven straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change.

Flora is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Edwards County just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The shutout was out of character for the Wolves seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For Edwards County's part, the result came thanks to Jex Schnepper's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. Schnepper has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Edwards County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Hensley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles Hensley has posted since back in April of 2024.

Edwards County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Flora, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-9.
