Baseball Recap: Edinburgh Comes Up Short

Edinburgh dropped down to 5-14 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 20-3 to the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Eagles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Jac-Cen-Del, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

For Jac-Cen-Del's part, Blake Wagner made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wagner has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Jac-Cen-Del let Neil Sullivan and Brody Huff run wild. Sullivan got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Huff got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Sullivan has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Edinburgh will face off against Columbus Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.8 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they will take on Milan at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Indians 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
