Basketball Game Preview: South Spencer Rebels vs. Perry Central Commodores

The South Spencer Rebels will face off against the Perry Central Commodores at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

South Spencer is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Heritage Hills on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. South Spencer lost 70-47 to Heritage Hills. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Perry Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Crawford County 55-19. The squad ran away with 45 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

Perry Central pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for South Spencer, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

South Spencer beat Perry Central 68-61 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will South Spencer repeat their success, or does Perry Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
