Softball Game Preview: Walnut Mustangs vs. Claremont Wolfpack

Walnut is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Claremont a six-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Walnut Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Claremont Wolfpack at 3:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Two weeks ago, Walnut came up short against Glendora and fell 8-4.

Cynthia P spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Walnut saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rihanna J, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Claremont's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-0 to Ayala, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Claremont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Walnut, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
