Softball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Mount de Sales Academy dropped their record down to 14-7 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-3 to the John Carroll Patriots. The Sailors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Olivia Ross was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for John Carroll, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On John Carroll's side, Emily Hildt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits. Hildt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kallissa Coats, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Savannah Claycomb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Mount de Sales Academy nor John Carroll have any future games scheduled.
