Basketball Game Preview: Westview Wolverines vs. Bryan Bears

The Westview Wolverines will challenge the Bryan Bears on Friday. Westview has given up an average of 56.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Westview didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Millard South, but they still walked away with a 70-65 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

EJ Swindle and Elijah Wilborn were among the main playmakers for Westview as the former went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and seven assists and the latter shot 88% from the field to rack up 17 points and six steals. Thanks to that strong game, Swindle now owns an excellent 47.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Smith, who posted nine points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Bryan played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through an 86-32 loss at the hands of Elkhorn South. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

Westview will have to contain Jayden Joseph as he made an impact in Bryan's last game. He went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points.

Westview's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Bryan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Westview against Bryan in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, as the squad secured a 94-38 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Bears' Deon Darnell, who shot 69% from the field on his way to 27 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Wolverines to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
