Baseball Recap: Seward Bluejays vs. Wahoo/Bishop Neumann Warriors

After flying high against Raymond Central last Tuesday, Seward came back down to earth. Seward fell just short of the Wahoo/Bishop Neumann Warriors by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Bluejays in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Connor Sveeggen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Sveeggen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brycen Burt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Keyan Schadwinkel also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Seward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wahoo/Bishop Neumann struck out eight times.

Seward's record now sits at 1-3. As for Wahoo/Bishop Neumann, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Seward will challenge rival St. Paul/Palmer on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wahoo/Bishop Neumann is set to square off against their familiar foe Plattsmouth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
