Baseball Recap: Hartford Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Hartford had won three straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 9-4 to make it four. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the West Bend East Suns. The win continues a trend for the Orioles in their matchups with the Suns: they've now won six in a row.

Joe Landgraf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brady Helms was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

As for West Bend East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

On West Bend East's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Sommer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hartford will square off against rival Slinger at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Orioles 3.8, the Owls 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, West Bend East is set to face off against their familiar foe Port Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
