Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Beats Monterey for Their Third Straight Win

Hillcrest had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 58-49 win over the Monterey Plainsmen. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Plainsmen, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillcrest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dj Corbin, who posted 19 points and seven rebounds. Jacoby Ogbonna was another key player, going 6 of 7 on his way to 17 points.

Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-48 defeat against Eastwood on the 28th. As for Monterey, they will venture away from home to challenge Lubbock-Cooper at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
