Softball Game Preview: Adams-Friendship Green Devils vs. Wautoma Hornets

Adams-Friendship and Wautoma are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Green Devils will host the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Adams-Friendship's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Montello. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Green Devils this season.

Riley Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Adams-Friendship got a big performance out of Kyra Meisenheimer, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave Meisenheimer a new career-high. Kena Kirsenlohr was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Adams-Friendship always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wautoma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Ripon 7-1 on Monday. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Wautoma is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Adams-Friendship, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Adams-Friendship skirted past Wautoma 7-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Green Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
