Basketball Recap: Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The third road contest was the charm for Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 73-62 victory over the Milford Central Wildcats on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton was led to victory by Noah Pain and Koda Stockdale. Pain posted 27 points and four steals, while Stockdale had 15 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Pain has scored at least a third of Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton's points. Another player making a difference was Payton Behnke, who put up five points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was RJ Lindsay, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Clark, who had 14 points.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Milford Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton will head out to take on Margaretville Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milford Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-42 defeat against Roxbury Central on the 4th.
