Volleyball Recap: Gilmour Academy Comes Up Short

Gilmour Academy lost against Olentangy Orange two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lancers fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 2-1. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pioneers 25-21 in the first set.

Gilmour Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-13, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Gilmour Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mira Siebert had 31 assists and six digs. Siebert is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season.

Olentangy Orange can attribute much of their success to Chloe Moore, who had ten digs. Brianna (Bri) Bush also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Gilmour Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Olentangy Orange, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Gilmour Academy will head out on the road to challenge Bay at 6:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Olentangy Orange, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Lake Catholic on the 6th.
