Baseball Recap: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Williams Field Black Hawks

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Campo Verde, Mountain Pointe was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Williams Field Black Hawks with a sharp 11-2 win. This was a revenge match for Mountain Pointe, as the team was forced to settle for an 8-3 defeat when these two played last Tuesday.

Mountain Pointe got a great performance from Brett Crossland as he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Crossland has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Crossland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Yeager, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

On Williams Field's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Fioresi, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
