Baseball Game Preview: Martinsville Artesians vs. Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs

For the second straight game, Martinsville will face off against Franklin Community. The Artesians will challenge the Grizzly Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Martinsville is looking for their season's first win.

Martinsville fell victim to Franklin Community and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Grizzly Cubs, falling 11-0.

For Franklin Community's part, Greyson Betts made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Betts has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Owen Bullington was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten games. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsten Bland, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

Franklin Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Martinsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
