Baseball Recap: Mcclave Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

McClave won the last time they faced Granada and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 16-4 win. Considering the Cardinals have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Drew Howe and Ryan Steinbrunn made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Howe tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Steinbrunn struck out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Howe scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Steinbrunn scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, McClave got a massive performance out of Elijah Solis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawton Annen, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

McClave's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-1. As for Granada, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. McClave will face off against rival Cheyenne Wells at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Granada is set to challenge their familiar foe Springfield at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
