Soccer Game Preview: Macon County vs. Irwin County

The Macon County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Irwin County Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Macon County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Macon County is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Southwest Georgia STEM Charter on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aggies. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of three yellow cards before it was all over: Macon County's Akeelah Ellis and Jocabed Aguirre and Southwest Georgia STEM Charter's Hailey Lugo were all carded.

Macon County's goal came courtesy of Antuanijah Saxton, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Irwin County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Worth County 2-1.

Irwin County pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those six matches. As for Macon County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.
