Basketball Game Preview: Buena Colts vs. Nogales Apaches

The Buena Colts will take on the Nogales Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Buena has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Nogales will arrive with four straight victories.

On Tuesday, Buena ended up a good deal behind Flowing Wells and lost 51-33. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Caballeros are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Nogales' strategy against Cienega on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Nogales blew Cienega out of the water with a 57-20 final score. The Apaches have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Nogales' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for Buena, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
