Preview: Plainview Indians vs. Byng Pirates

The Plainview Indians are on the road again on Friday and plays the Byng Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Plainview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.

Plainview put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 51-23 victory over Kingston.

Plainview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacelyn Hammon, who scored 13 points along with seven assists and six steals. Hammon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Marya Southerland, who scored 17 points along with three steals and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Byng beat the Longhorns 52-41 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Byng.

Plainview pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Byng, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Plainview came up short against the Pirates in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 51-41. Can Plainview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
