Volleyball Game Preview: Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons vs. Gateway Eagles

The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons will challenge the Gateway Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Charlotte proved they can win big last Monday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Riverview Sarasota 3-2. The Fightin' Tarpons haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Charlotte had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-13.

Charlotte's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ramsey Bohannan, who had 12 digs and two assists, and Jaylin Hickox, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs Bohannan has posted over her last 12 contests.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Gateway had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Immokalee by a score of 3-1 on Monday.

Charlotte's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for Gateway, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.

Charlotte beat Gateway 3-1 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Fightin' Tarpons repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
