Softball Game Preview: Goliad Tigers vs. Karnes City Badgers

The Goliad Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Karnes City Badgers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Goliad has six straight victories, Karnes City has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Tuesday, Goliad made easy work of Poth and carried off a 10-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Karnes City lost 16-8 to Luling on Tuesday.

Mackenzie Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Raquel Alvarado, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Goliad's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Karnes City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Goliad took their victory against Karnes City in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 17-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
