Basketball Recap: Horizon Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Ethan Garabelis and Landon Salvador

Horizon Christian Academy and Pinecrest Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Horizon Christian Academy had to settle for second. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinecrest Academy Paladins. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Paladins recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Horizon Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Landon Salvador, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points and five boards, and Ethan Garabelis, who posted 13 points. That's the most rebounds Salvador has posted since back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joe Frain, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 17 boards. Frain is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down 13 or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Lynch, who earned eight points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks.

Horizon Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Pinecrest Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Horizon Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pinecrest Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Creekside Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Creekside Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
