Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Bellevue Wolverines

The Liberty Patriots will take on the Bellevue Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, Liberty came up short against Jefferson and fell 5-1.

Parker Heeter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jackson Bell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bellevue, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Ellensburg by a score of 7-4 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jack Odegaard looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bellevue saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Powell, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Powell has posted since back in March. Another was Jackson Rankin, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Liberty has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Bellevue, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
