Baseball Recap: Cathedral Triumphs

After losing to Avon the last time they met, Cathedral decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fighting Irish came out on top against the Orioles by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Irish.

Bo Blondi tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Cathedral saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Nickols, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Michael Gallagher was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Cathedral's record is now 7-3-1. As for Avon, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-7-1 record.

Cathedral wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Columbus North on the 1st. As for Avon, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-4 win against Brownsburg on the 29th.
