Recap: Whale Branch Warriors vs. Bethune-Bowman Mohawks
It was a good run, but the Whale Branch Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethune-Bowman. Whale Branch was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bethune-Bowman apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Whale Branch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Greggory Gilbert. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. The matchup was Gilbert's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kevin Jenkins, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Whale Branch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Bethune-Bowman, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whale Branch and Hampton County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Bethune-Bowman, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodville-Tompkins at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
