Basketball Recap: Crestwood Comes Up Short

If Crestwood was riding high fresh off their 74-43 takedown of Wickliffe last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crestwood Red Devils came up short against the Streetsboro Rockets on Tuesday, falling 62-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Red Devils have suffered against the Rockets since December 9, 2014.

Despite the defeat, Crestwood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brody Durham posted 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Durham has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was James Durham, who scored seven points and 12 boards.

It was another big night for Charles Ivory, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds for Streetsboro. That's the most boards Ivory has posted since back in March of 2024. Jackson Gula was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-4. As for Streetsboro, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-3.

Crestwood and Streetsboro should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Crestwood will take on St. John at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 368 places (261 vs. 629). Crestwood is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. Similarly, Streetsboro (ranked 175th) will meet Cloverleaf (ranked 506th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crestwood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season.
