Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Cadets vs. Westhill Vikings

St. Joseph has gone 7-2 against Westhill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cadets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. St. Joseph will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between St. Joseph and Ludlowe, and St. Joseph kept the tradition alive. The Cadets blew past the Falcons 10-2 on Thursday. The match marked the Cadets' most dominant win of the season.

Connor Fahey made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jesse Covino was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Adam Chaves, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Norwalk hit Westhill with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 9-4 to the Bears. The Vikings have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

St. Joseph's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Westhill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

St. Joseph was able to grind out a solid win over Westhill in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. Do the Cadets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
