Basketball Game Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. Valencia Tigers

The Whittier Christian Heralds will challenge the Valencia Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Valencia will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Whittier Christian extended their winning streak to three on Monday. Everything went the Heralds' way against El Toro as they made off with a 65-42 victory.

Whittier Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Leland Carrido out in front who shot 71% from the field on his way to 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Carrido is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Baker, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Whittier Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Valencia made easy work of La Quinta on Monday and carried off a 66-44 victory.

Valencia's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Whittier Christian, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Whittier Christian came up short against Valencia in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, falling 59-55. Can the Heralds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
