Baseball Game Preview: Shannon Red Raiders vs. Jumpertown Cardinals

The Shannon Red Raiders will head out to face off against the Jumpertown Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither Shannon nor Jumpertown posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Friday just wasn't the day for Shannon's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saltillo on Friday. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Daniel Mullins was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Timothy Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Jumpertown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 16-0 to Myrtle.

Jumpertown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Shannon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Jumpertown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shannon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Jumpertown, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Shannon's hitters?

Everything went Shannon's way against Jumpertown in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Shannon made off with a 15-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shannon since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
