Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Arrowhead Christian Eagles
The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles suffered their closest defeat since January 11th on Thursday. They fell just short of Arrowhead Christian by a score of 61-58. Capistrano Valley Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Arrowhead Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Benjamin Makelela, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds. Makelela has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Dignadice, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
Arrowhead Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Skipper led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six assists and three steals. Clayton Mpiana was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Capistrano Valley Christian has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for Arrowhead Christian, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.
Capistrano Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Arrowhead Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. Alhambra will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 856th, while Arrowhead Christian is ranked 241st).
