Football Recap: Eli Ericson and DJ Gray Lead the Defense for Mammoth Win

Mammoth won the last time they faced Santa Clarita Christian, and Eli Ericson did his part to make sure it happened again. The Huskies claimed a resounding 56-28 victory over the Cardinals for which the team can thank Ericson, who rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 40 yards and one TD. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 55 yards.

Mammoth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ericson and DJ Gray. Ericson is also crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Gray got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mammoth now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Mammoth will venture away from home to face off against Frazier Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Huskies their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Santa Clarita Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Fresno Christian at 6:30 p.m. on the 20th.
