Baseball Recap: Loveland Takes a Loss

Loveland started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Fossil Ridge. They fell just short of the SaberCats by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. If the Red Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the SaberCats when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brady Cheever was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Loveland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Waldorf, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Waldorf hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Loveland and nudges their season record down to 3-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Fossil Ridge, their record now sits at 6-2.

While Loveland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
