Volleyball Recap: Channel Islands Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Danilo Dela Pena and Riley Luna

It was a good run, but Channel Islands unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 2-0 to the Ventura Cougars. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-13.

Channel Islands' loss came despite strong showings from Riley Luna and Danilo Dela Pena. Luna had 13 digs, while Dela Pena had four digs and two aces. Luna has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times he's played.

Ventura found their leader in sophomore Fletcher Duffey, who had 17 digs.

Channel Islands' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Ventura, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Channel Islands didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Fillmore on the 19th. As for Ventura, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Buena on the 19th.
