Baseball Recap: Carbondale Area Chargers vs. Holy Redeemer Royals
Carbondale Area couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holy Redeemer Royals on Monday. Carbondale Area was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Holy Redeemer apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
For Holy Redeemer's part, they let Cody Quaglia and DJ Mcdermott loose on the outfield. Quaglia got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, while Mcdermott scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hurst, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Carbondale Area will head out on the road to face off against Pittston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Redeemer, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake-Lehman at 4:15 p.m. on April 5th. Lake-Lehman has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something Holy Redeemer will no doubt try to take advantage of.
