Softball Recap: Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hollidaysburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers 8-7. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by just one run.

Riley Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hailey Fries, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Steele, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Central pushed their record up to 3-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hollidaysburg, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
