Baseball Recap: Carlisle Triumphs

Carlisle posted their closest victory since April 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Gettysburg Warriors 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Thundering Herd: when they faced off against the Warriors back in March, they had to take a 14-12 defeat.

Carlisle saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Pfahl, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Ryan Black also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Carlisle has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Gettysburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlisle will host Palmyra at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Thundering Herd surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gettysburg, they will welcome Red Land at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
