Mt. Pleasant took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Connellsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Falcons 6-4. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Carter Urban spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ian Shipley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Painter, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Mt. Pleasant's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8-1. As for Connellsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Mt. Pleasant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Connellsville, they have already played their next matchup, a 13-8 loss against Hempfield Area on the 8th.
