Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Starts Season with Win Against Prescott

St. Mary gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They claimed a resounding 76-43 victory over the Prescott Badgers. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-12.

Despite the loss, Prescott still got an impressive performance from Pedro Jimenez, who posted 13 points and three steals. Jimenez also put up a block, which was his first of the season. Jake Diener was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Prescott's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-4.

St. Mary's wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 84-78 win against Basha on the 4th. As for Prescott, they have also already played their next contest, a 67-52 defeat against Deer Valley on the 4th.
