Soccer Game Preview: Lyons vs. Oswego

The Lyons Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Oswego Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Lyons is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Naperville Central, who was ranked second at the time (Lyons was ranked 12th). The Lions lost 5-0 to the Redhawks on Friday. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, Lyons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Oswego kept a clean sheet against Bolingbrook on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 8-0 victory. Oswego might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by three goals or more this season.

The defeat snapped Lyons' winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 7-2-3 record. As for Oswego, their win bumped their record up to 14-0-2.

Lyons beat Oswego 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
