Basketball Recap: Gus Peters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Linn over South Callaway

Linn lost against South Callaway back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Linn Wildcats took a hard 65-46 fall against the South Callaway Bulldogs. The Wildcats were down 56-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Linn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gus Peters, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 18 points and five boards. What's more, he also posted a 62% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Cody Heckman was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Linn was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Linn dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for South Callaway, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Callaway, they will head out on the road to square off against North Callaway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Callaway knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully South Callaway likes a good challenge.
