Softball Recap: Geneseo Beats Richwoods for Their Fourth Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Geneseo had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Richwoods Knights get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Maple Leafs have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Richwoods' batters probably weren't too happy with Kendyl Wassenhove, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Wassenhove has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Kennedy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. McKenna Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Geneseo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 18-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Geneseo's fourth in a row) raised their record to 24-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Richwoods, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Geneseo nor Richwoods have any future games scheduled.
