Recap: Northgate Vikings vs. McIntosh Chiefs
Even though the Northgate Vikings have not done well against the McIntosh Chiefs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Northgate managed a 44-38 win over McIntosh. Given Northgate's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while McIntosh is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northgate's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from DeAsia Stinson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Stinson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Randria Wilcher, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Northgate is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for McIntosh, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Northgate will challenge Northside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McIntosh, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Starr's Mill at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Starr's Mill has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matchups.
