Softball Recap: Daniel Boone Wins Going Away Against Morristown-Hamblen West

Daniel Boone not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 9-2). They blew past the Morristown-Hamblen West Trojans 11-4. This was a revenge game for the Trailblazers: when they faced off against the Trojans on April 4th, they had to take a 10-2 defeat.

Ava Saul was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Saul was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had over her last eight matchups.

In other batting news, Riley Croley and Aggie Greer did most of the damage at the plate: Croley went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Greer went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Greer a new career-high. Ella Blanton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Daniel Boone's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Daniel Boone will face off against Unicoi County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Trailblazers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Morristown-Hamblen West, they will take on Farragut at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
