Basketball Recap: Marion's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Mullins came into Tuesday's game looking for another win against Marion, but Charles White II wouldn't allow it. It took a bit of extra time, but the Swamp Foxes secured a 66-60 win against the Auctioneers in overtime on Tuesday thanks in part to White II: he went 11-for-19 on his way to 29 points and seven boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which White II has scored at least a third of Marion's points.

Another player making a difference was Jayden Nowlin, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Marion is 4-2 when Nowlin posts eight or more boards, but 0-3 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Mullins lost, don't look at Dakarai Worley. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 28 points and 24 rebounds. The contest was Worley's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Ken 'KJ' Ford, Jr. was another key player, putting up ten points along with six steals and five boards.

Marion's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Mullins, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Marion will take on Hampton County in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mullins, they have already played their next matchup, a 57-53 win against Marlboro County on the 17th.
