Baseball Game Preview: Golden Valley Bulldogs vs. Mira Monte Lions

For the second straight game, Golden Valley will face off against Mira Monte. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Golden Valley has three straight wins, Mira Monte has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Golden Valley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Mira Monte. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly three runs.

Not much got past Ryan Perez, who gave up just four hits to keep Mira Monte off the board. Perez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Golden Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-7-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cristian Torres, who scored two runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Golden Valley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-7-1 when he doesn't). Cryzn Doronio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mira Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Golden Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-8-1.
