Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Prep Comes Up Short

If Sacred Heart Prep was riding high fresh off their 88-44 takedown of Crystal Springs Uplands last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sacred Heart Prep Gators took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King's Academy Knights. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Sacred Heart Prep still got an impressive performance from Matthew Norris, who went 10 of 12 on his way to 22 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Norris a new career-high in points. Alex Straser was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

King's Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Claxton Ladine, who went 9 for 15 en route to 22 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Boss Mhoon, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Sacred Heart Prep's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for King's Academy, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Sacred Heart Prep has already played their next match, a 46-41 win against Menlo-Atherton on the 25th. As for King's Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-48 victory against Head-Royce on the 25th.
