Softball Game Preview: New Haven Rockets vs. Marine City Mariners

The New Haven Rockets will head out to challenge the Marine City Mariners at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Haven has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with five straight defeats, while Marine City will come in with three straight victories.

Things were looking good for New Haven after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Port Huron Northern, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Rockets have lost by exactly 15 runs.

New Haven saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerikah Bowman Class 2026, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Marine City made easy work of Hartland on Saturday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Mariners have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

New Haven's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Marine City, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

New Haven suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Marine City in their previous matchup on April 9th. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
