Softball Recap: Trinity Williams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat FAMU DRS

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Florida Christian, Leon was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers a 30-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lamonika Sims made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sims was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Trinity Williams was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cynthia Conte, who scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4.

Leon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .789. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Leon's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for FAMU DRS, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leon will challenge Florida State University High School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for FAMU DRS, they will take on Altha at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Altha has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
