Volleyball Recap: Nova Titans vs. Western Wildcats
Nova came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Western Wildcats, falling 3-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.
Nova was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-19, 25-17.
Alex Arukakkal paced Nova's offense, picking up seven kills. Arukakkal got some help from Thomas Bertino and his 15 assists. Finally, Dylan Loi kept Nova's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
Western found their leader in freshman Jayson Ruiz, who had 20 digs. Those 20 digs set a new season-high mark for Ruiz.
Nova's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Western, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Nova will take on Everglades at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Western, they will challenge Monarch at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
